Kathy Lajo, PE is the Highway Division Manager for South Florida. She is a dynamic leader specializing in designing, building, and managing multimodal transportation infrastructure. With over 27 years of experience, she has successfully guided teams through complex highway projects for FDOT Districts 4, 6, and 7, as well as municipalities across Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. A proud graduate of Florida International University, Kathy is a licensed Professional Engineer in both Florida and Puerto Rico, bringing technical expertise and a strategic vision to every project she leads.

Kathy’s strength lies in her ability to balance the big picture with the details—overseeing design teams, managing budgets, fostering client relationships, and ensuring seamless coordination with local and state agencies. Her expertise spans roadway and pavement design, traffic control, signing and pavement markings, and structural elements, allowing her to develop solutions that are not only effective, but also forward-thinking and sustainable.

Committed to mentorship of our current staff and our future workforce, Kathy actively guides engineers in their professional growth and encourages future generations to pursue careers in engineering. Her dedication for the industry extends to the broader engineering community, where she serves as Mentorship Chair for the FES Broward Chapter and contributes to ASHE South Florida as Membership Committee Chair and Events Committee Chair. For Kathy, success is not just about delivering great projects, it’s about building strong teams and inspiring the next generation of engineers.
