The purpose of the project is to increase capacity and safety by widening a 5.7-mile segment of US 231 from 4 lanes to 6 lanes, along with adding bicycle lanes and an approximately 5- to 6-ft-wide sidewalk.

The BCC Traffic Engineering Operations Team designed a fiber optic network providing connectivity for the County’s ATMS system and FDOT’s ITS Platform. The scope includes CCTV incident detection and Bluetooth based Travel Time System.
